Which type of licence should you apply for, in Manitoba?

In order to run a raffle on Funding Change, you will need to obtain a valid raffle licence. 

There are two raffle licence types in Manitoba that can be obtained for running a raffle on our platform:

  1. Community Raffle Licence - Under 10k
  2. Raffle Licence - Over 10k 

You will want to ensure that the licence type you are applying for is appropriate according to the expectations for your raffle. 

There is a 3rd type of licence:
RM (Rural Municipal) licenses are available in some locations.

Benefits / Drawbacks of Each Type

LGCA Community Raffle Licence (Under $10k)

  • The most popular licence for organizations starting out

  • Faster to obtain than the Over $10k (~3-4 weeks)

  • No fee, no separate bank account required

  • Total Ticket Sales capped at $10k

LGCA Limited Series Raffle Licence (Over $10)

  • Unlimited ticket sales revenue

  • Requires a separate bank account only for your raffle(s)

  • Incurs a 1% fee to the LGCA

  • Takes a bit longer to obtain (~4-6 weeks)

Rural Municipal (RM) licence

  • Only for Rural Municipalities

  • This licence is the fastest and easiest to obtain

  • Limit of Prize Value @ $3000 (total ticket sales for a 50/50 limited at $6000)
